It seems that we can not make it out of the house at a reasonable time and somehow we had another late start. But I guess that is why we chose to have 6 days in London. It was another gorgeous day and I felt that I needed to take a token selfie to capture just how green everything is!
We took the train into town to head to the Tate Modern since the Matisse exhibit opened here today. I love going to museums and discovering new art, but somehow I find that I am always drawn to the same artists. I have seen a Matisse exhibit in Paris and in New York and this one did not let me down! The exhibit is Matisse: Cut-Outs, and features many of his final pieces. London is the first to host the exhibit before it moves to New York. However, since it was opening day we had tickets to the 5:00pm viewing and had to kill some time.
We stumbled upon a great little place called Founders Arms Riverside Pub and Dining that was just along the Thames River. There was a great view of St. Paul’s Cathedral (the dome in the background), which according to some, has a better view than the London Eye.
We are trying to get ourselves on some sort of normal schedule, so we took the train back and got take away from a little local Chinese restaurant called Chin Chin Chow which actually had really good food!
Part of traveling anywhere is learning the local customs as well as the local currency. Now that we have been here for a few days we have managed to collect quite a few coins. I am still learning the money but from top to bottom this is:1 Pound, 50 Pence, 20 Pence, 10 Pence, 5 Pence, 2 Pence and 1 Penny.
